FAQs

Who are you?

I’m KC and I call my business AcuYogini because I practice acupressure and I’m a female practitioner of yoga. I’m a bodyworker that loves the doorways of acupressure. I’m a yoga teacher that believes it’s my job to ask questions and hold space for you to find your answers.

Where did you study yoga?

I started yoga in 2001 at the Yoga Center of San Luis Obispo, CA when I was at home visiting my family for the summer while I was in college. At that time, I was attending college in Brighton, England, and when I returned to my university classes, I also began a steady practice of hatha yoga at the Brighton Buddhist Centre and ashtanga at Brighton Natural Health Centre. When I returned to the USA, I was eager to do a teacher training and completed the Bikram Yoga Training in 2005 and Baron Baptiste Power Vinyasa Training in 2006. I made a large transition and in 2017 pivoted my teaching into Gentle and Yin yoga after I completed the Kripalu Yoga Training. I feel grateful that I’ve studied with so many different types of teachers and lineages!

Where did you study massage therapy?

I received my 550 hour massage therapy certificate from Hirudaya Massage School in San Luis Obispo, CA in 2006. This training consisted of Swedish Massage and Asian Bodywork styles. This where I first learned acupressure and it interested me so much that I later moved to Berkeley, CA, to study and mentor with teachers at the Acupressure Institute. I credit the teachers at that school for helping me think creatively about my work and be an artist of my life.

Testimonial for the AcuYogini Online Wood Element Yoga:

I loved the slow meditative pace of the class, and KC with her kind voice and warm character brings participants on a unique journey by weaving acupressure exercises, yin yoga, and an invitation to see the parallels of nature’s changes in the spring to the changes and potential for growth in our own lives.”

I can confidently tell you I’ve seen many people think they couldn’t do yoga, and after their first class be amazed by their transformation.

Why should I do yoga?

This is what some students have told me and what I’ve witnessed in people:

  • improved lung capacity—better breathing

  • better balance

  • better ability to focus

  • body awareness

  • improved range of motion

  • core strengthening

  • flexibility

  • ability to self-regulate

  • increased happiness

What is acupressure?

Acupressure points are specific areas on the body, according to Chinese Medicine, where tension collects and is dissolved by holding with steady pressure. The system of acupressure is the map that an acupuncturist uses. An acupuncturist uses needles and in acupressure the hands are used to create the pressure on the points. You can use acupressure on yourself or receive it in a bodywork session.
