This morning Daniel was cleaning out and found an old letter I wrote him in 2005, while I was at my first Yoga Teacher Training. I told him not to read it out loud because I don't like nostalgia, but he wanted me to hear it.
In the letter I talk about how blessed & grateful I am to have @byslo and all the teachers and studio owner supporting me. I talk about how Daniel's positive affirmations he created for me are helping me do my practice teaching. The part that I forgot about and surprised me this morning, was that I talked about how much I appreciate the students at @byslo, and how supported I feel by them and how truly excited and grateful I am to go home and start teaching them.
You see, when I started teaching yoga, I didn't think about pay, I didn't think about marketing or how to increase my class size. I never thought about making a good impression on students (lol) because they all knew me! It was just me, doing what I knew was going to be my future career and I had all these people and community supporting me.
Even though I'm from San Luis Obispo, CA, I only taught there two years and have moved cities quite a few times and taught at many different studios, and quite a few different styles of yoga. I continue to travel and meet new people and go to new studios.
My supportive beginning years teaching taught me to look into the eyes of the groups in front of me and see love.
